Wilson’s Airless Gen1 is making a comeback after its initial release sold out quickly.
This $2,500 3D-printed ball features a honeycomb lattice design and doesn’t require inflation, yet it performs like a traditional basketball. Due to overwhelming demand, Wilson is rereleasing it in limited quantities with three color options: black, natural/white, and a new burgundy.
Despite interest, scalability issues with 3D printing prevent mass production, keeping the ball expensive. Wilson is actively researching ways to lower costs and make the technology more accessible. The latest drop, starting February 13, 2025 on Wilson.com, will also include availability at the NBA All-Star 2025 event in San Francisco on February 17, 2025—marking the largest release yet.
